Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • How do I know if therapy is right for me?
If you’ve tried managing things on your own but still feel stuck, disconnected, or overwhelmed, therapy can help. You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit — many of our clients are high-functioning, thoughtful adults who appear fine on the outside but feel something deeper is off.

What can I expect in the first session?
Your first session is a conversation, not a test. We’ll talk about what’s bringing you in, your goals, and what you’d like to feel different. You’ll also get a sense of our approach and whether it feels like the right fit.

    Do you offer free consultations?
Yes. We offer a free 15-minute consultation by phone or video so you can ask questions and get a feel for how we work.

How do I schedule a session?
You can schedule directly through our secure online portal or click the “Schedule a Consult” or “Book a Session” button on our site. We’ll walk you through the next steps.

  • Do you take insurance?
We’re an out-of-network provider, which means we don’t bill insurance directly. Many clients receive partial reimbursement through their plans. We use Mentaya to help you check out-of-network benefits and submit claims automatically.

    What are your rates?
Session rates vary depending on the therapist and session type. Individual sessions typically range from $125 to $150; couples and longer sessions are slightly higher. We’ll review fees clearly before you begin.

Do you offer sliding scale rates?
We reserve a few reduced-rate spots based on need. If cost is a concern, mention it during your consultation — we’ll do our best to help or share referrals that fit your budget.

    Do you accept HSA/FSA cards?
Yes. We accept both HSA and FSA cards for therapy services.

  • What types of therapy do you offer?
We use evidence-based, trauma-informed approaches including EMDR, IFS-informed therapy, ACT, and somatic work. In short, we help you reach the layers where your body, mind, and history meet — so change feels real, not just logical.

    How long does therapy take?
It depends on your goals. Some people notice shifts within weeks, while deeper trauma or identity work can take longer. We’ll check in regularly about what’s working.

Do I need a “big trauma” to do EMDR?
No. EMDR can help with anything that feels stuck — not just major trauma. It’s useful for repeated, subtle moments that shaped how you see yourself or relate to others.

What’s the difference between talk therapy and somatic therapy?
Talk therapy focuses on reflection and insight. Somatic therapy includes the body: tracking tension, movement, and sensations that carry emotional memory. Together, they help change feel more lasting.

  • Do you see both individuals and couples?
Yes. We offer individual therapy and couples counseling in Houston and virtually throughout Texas.

What if my partner doesn’t want to come?
That’s common. Individual work can still shift the relationship dynamic. Many clients start on their own and invite their partner in later.

How do I know if it’s time for couples counseling?
If you’re stuck in repetitive conflict, walking on eggshells, or feeling disconnected, couples therapy can help you reconnect before resentment builds.

Can we come even if we’re not in crisis?
Absolutely. Many couples use therapy to strengthen communication and deepen connection, not just to repair conflict.

  • Where are you located?
We’re located in Montrose, near Rice Village and the Houston Museum District. The office is cozy, quiet, and designed to feel grounding — not clinical.

    Do you offer virtual therapy?
Yes. We provide secure, HIPAA-compliant virtual sessions for clients anywhere in Texas.

Are virtual sessions as effective as in-person?
Yes. Research shows online therapy can be just as effective. Many clients prefer having both options.

    Is parking available?
Yes, there’s free and easy street parking around the building.
